Supp. O2 Nose Stuffed Plugged

Well it has been some time to figure this out, but I did! Being on Supplemental O2 24/7 my nose at times is dry and / or feels stuffy (plugged) with nothing there. Trying to figure out why only now in the winter months this is happening and did not during the Spring and Summer. Then it dawned on me that I was using some allergy medication during those warmer months and one of them was fluticasone (Flonase is the OTC of it). I checked with my doctor to verify I could still use it and yes was the answer. Wow, this sure did make a difference by shrinking the membranes in my nasal cavity to help that stuffed / plugged feeling go away. If possible for others I truly recommend you all checking to see if this is something you could try and use. I do not need it everyday, but at least when I do there is some relief. Just thought I would share this information in case someone else might be interested.

    1. Wow, you must feel so much more comfortable, Doris! So glad you had that thought and decided to pursue it. Hope the week ahead is a comfortable one for you! -Melissa, copd.net team

      1. dltld: Also, I use a room humidifier in the winter. It helps not only my dry nasal passages, but my dry skin, mouth, and lips

        1. thanks for the response. Yes humidifier works great and a dehumidifier works just as well during the summer. Kept looking for answers after the original post and found these! We keep our home at about 40% . Not only does it help with the breathing, but it keeps the temperature in the house to feel more stabilized too! Thanks again for the response, refreshing to know others are using some of the same for their health too!
