Side effects from inhaler

Hi again all! Do all inhalers cause nervousness, blurred vision, Lightheadedness, fatigue? I’m looking for an inhaler for emphysema that does not cause any of these side effects. Currently using Breo but not getting much relief from it. The side effects are chronic and quite severe. My pulmonologist said the inhalers are all the same but I don’t have a lot of faith in his opinion nor am I a pharmacist who knows about all of the inhalers out there. Can anyone
help ? Thank you!!

  1. Hi again, , and thanks for your post and question - it's a good one!
As you may be aware, all medications can cause side effects. These can actually vary from patient to patient. While some side effects may affect certain patients, those same side effects may not affect others. Medications and their efficacy can also vary from patient to patient. Finding the right medication for each patient can sometimes seem like a 'trial and error' type of method but eventually (usually sooner rather than later), the right medication will be determined.
Since you have shared that you do not have any confidence in your present prescribing physician, you may want to reach out to your dispensing pharmacist. Pharmacists tend to be a good resource for suggesting medication regimens for their patients, too. Would you consider reaching out to yours?

    1. thank you so much for responding! I could ask the pharmacists at Walgreens and hope they can help. I’m very sensitive to meds. I’ve tried about a dozen anti-anxiety RX’s but they made me worse and no one can figure out why I am chronically light headed . The Breo is the only RX I have been taking for a while now and I’ve had these symptoms for several years. I’ll ask the pharmacists for info. Thanks again.

    2. Hi again, Kitt - it's my pleasure. I am glad to hear you plan to discuss this with the pharmacist at Walgreens/ I am hopeful they will help you in a meaningful way as well. I do know that at (my) local Walgreens, there is a separate window for 'consultations'. When I use it, I always ask for 'more privacy' and the pharmacist takes me to a more secluded area in the pharmacy to have a private talk. I am hoping this will be the same for you!
      Good luck!
