Scarring

Recently had a PET scan - thankfully no cancer is shown but I have scarring. I do not see the Dr till Dec - I want to know what would cause my lungs to scar?

  1. Hi jvar2 and thanks for your post. You may be aware that we cannot provide medical advice or diagnostics over the internet (for your own safety), but your inquiry certainly warrants a comment. There are several diseases and/or surgical interventions that can result in scarring of the lung parenchyma (tissue). I'm sure you can understand how it wouldn't be fair or proper to try to hazard a guess as to what the cause is in your situation. I know it can be somewhat nerve wracking to wait to see the physician - but I believe that is the most prudent course for you to take. Please do check back with us and let us know how you're doing.
    All the best,

    1. I could hazard a good guess because I have multiple lung scarring due to sarcoidosis granulomas. My brother had it 30 years ago.
Autoimmune disease comes and goes. You should check it out!
I never knew it until 2 years ago.
