Rapid Heart Rate causes shortness of breath

I was in the hospital all last week, because driving home from work, my heart took of pounding so hard and so fast I couldn't breathe. I had to pull over and call an ambulance. Twice in two weeks. I went from bi-pap to high pressure oxygen to back now on 4 liters at home. I am also on a heart monitor to see if it could be A-Fib. Has anyone else had this happen?

  1. yes, I have been through something very similar. This testing is good, let them check for anything and everything they think it could be for the answer is out there, just chasing it down. I ended up with a stent placed in my heart from blockage the first go around. The 2nd go around was panic attack. It all comes down to that ruling things out, it might take a bit of time and other test. Hang in there!

    1. Happens to me on a daily basis. Wad in hospital last week for testing and scans. Some lung damage. Every time I walk some where, the heart is pounding and can not breathe. Scares the heck out of me. A daily fight. Was doing great after knee replacement. Then, bam, kick in the face and no longer can walk any where. Still fighting to get back outside again.

      1. As you can see, you are definitely not alone! Here is an article that also might be helpful: https://copd.net/basics/conditions/cardiovascular-conditions Best, Sam S. (COPD team)
