Question from the community: What can you tell me about bronchiectasis?

  1. According to lung.org (http://www.lung.org/lung-health-and-diseases/lung-disease-lookup/bronchiectasis/learn-about-bronchiectasis.html), bronchiectasis occurs when the walls of the airways (bronchi) thicken as a result of chronic inflammation and/or infection and results in mucus accumulating. I hope this helps! Warmly, Alesandra (COPD.net)

  2. Hi SusanHU and Alesandra. I noticed this question also has gone unanswered since March 29. Besides your referenced posted article, Alesandra, I thought it might be helpful for our COPD.net community members (who were interested), to look over this article that differentiates between the two conditions - COPD and bronchiectasis: https://lungdiseasenews.com/2015/01/26/copd-bronchiectasis-similarities-differences/.
    Wishing you both the best,
    Leon (site moderator)

  3. Hi again, SusanHU and Alee:
I'm sure you are aware we have a brand new article, posted today (8/26/19) by our own John Bottrell, which focuses on Bronchiectasis.
    The link is here: https://copd.net/clinical/bronchiectasis/.

    It's very informative!
    Leon
