Hi! Great question. Palliative care and hospice do often come together, but they are not the same. Palliative care is about managing your symptoms and giving you better quality of life, and you can do that at any time! Pain medicine, physical therapy, counseling and other therapies can be part of palliative care.
Hospice is specifically about preparing for the end of life. You have stopped trying to cure the illness, but you would likely still pursue aspects of palliative care, like pain management and counseling.

I bet you are already receiving some of those elements of palliative care and didn't know that was what it was. 😀 If you're looking for more specific help, your GP or pulmonologist can manage that for you.
Does that make sense? It really is a fine line between the two, but the biggest takeaway is that palliative care does not mean you're dying. It's just a different focus.
