  1. Hi . Welcome! I'm glad you found us. I wish your doctor had spent more time with you and explained more about COPD. How frustrating. Here is an article about acute exacerbations (flares) that might help you understand them better: https://copd.net/basics/acute-exacerbations. We also have some wonderful sister communities for people with type 2 diabetes and chronic kidney disease: Type2Diabetes.com and Chronic-Kidney-Disease.net. You'll find lots of information about diet and nutrition there. The tricky thing with eating for both disease is that CKD requires that you limit protiens while foods high in protien are helpful in controling blood sugar levels. Your best bet is probably to ask your doctor for a referral to a dietician who specializes in both diseases, or at least one. The visits are usually covered by insurance. A dietician can help you make sustainable changes to your diet by working with you as an individual. I hope this helps. Wishing you the best. - Lori (Team Member)

      1. I'm glad to hear that. This is such an active and responsive community. I hope you find the support you need here. Please let us know how that appointment goes. I'll be thinking of you. - Lori (Team Member)
