Does anyone else's oxygen tubing wrap around their neck?

Problem with oxygen tubing being wrapped around my neck when I wake up (not good). Any practical solutions?

  1. Hi HOPS and thanks for your question. While I'm hopeful you may hear from others with their own personal experiences, I would like to give you some suggestions which you may find helpful.

    If you haven't already, you can try different variations of securing the excess length to the bedpost, bedside table or bed leg, depending on your bedroom This may minimize the availability of the extra length of hose that can be permitting the tubing to get wrapped around your neck. If the cannula is secured in the 'over the ears, under the chin' style this may help. It will keep the tubing taut but not restrictive.

    1. Hi i use a device called a Maxiaid CPAP Tubing Holder. it doesn't completely prevent the problem but it helps. it looks like an iv stand but shorter and the base fits between the mattress and box spring to hold the hose over your head.

      1. Yes this is something I have had problems with, tubing wrapping around my neck. I have found for myself that if I bring the tubing up over the foot of the bed, then place it between my arms (middle of the body) no matter the sleep position it has helped, thus when my arms/body moves the tubing just kind of goes with me instead of wrapping to much at all. Now my father use to bring his up around the head board and attach it there, but that did cause it more so to slip off the nose more then anything. Unfortunately we all sleep differently, some of us are what I call attactive sleepers and others are the quite hold still type once they get comfortable. I hope you are able to figure something out that works best for you so you will be able to relax more while sleeping and wake up feeling a little more rested.
