Oxygen level

When I am sitting and at rest my blood oxygen level is between 90-97 on level 2 of oxygen. The minute I move and get up to walk and do things I have to increase my oxygen intake from 2 up to 5 the highest on my oxygen gauge. I am still panting when I do this and my blood oxygen drops in the 70's. When I stop moving and just sit my level goes back up to 90-96. Does anyone else experience this. I might add I feel like my body is too heavy for me to carry.

  1. Hi Darcy, and thanks for your post - your concern is one for which others in the community have expressed similar sentiments. For some folks with a COPD diagnosis. what you are experiencing (the drop in oxygen saturation levels), can be quite common. It makes managing one's day and life somewhat challenging, that's for sure.
I am hopeful others in the community will see your comment and respond by sharing their own personal anecdotal experiences with you.
As I mentioned to you yesterday in your other comment, if there is anything we can do to assist you, please let me or any other moderator know. Please know, you are always welcome here in our online community.
    Wishing you well,

      1. Hi again, Darcy - it's my pleasure!
        Warm regards,

    2. You should talk to your DR you might need a different meter that delivers more oxygen when you do stuff I know I do I need 7 when I do stuff

      1. When you are doing stuff are you still panting at 7L. When I am standing and preparing a meal going from sink to frig to counter at 5L I am still panting. When I completely stop what I am doing and sit my oxygen level will come back to the 90's. This can take about 1-3 minutes. Thanks for your response.

      2. When I am using supplemental oxygen, I have my O2 set at 2 lpm. When I get up and move around, I am winded after a couple minutes, and have to sit down. If I monitor the level, it usually takes about 3 minutes to get back to my normal level, which is 88-92. I don't raise the level unless I'm doing something like the treadmill, or vacuuming. That seems to be the most practical way for me to handle it. Otherwise, I have to keep going back to the machine, which takes my energy. Hope this helps.

    3. for years i wished someone would invent a solution for this someone has Tidal Assist and O2matic in Europe Check out Tidal Assist
