In the most general of terms, lung nodules may typically be monitored using CT scans. The initial scan is to determine the size of the nodule (for a benchmark), and the subsequent scans are performed routinely to monitor the growth, diminution or stability of the nodule. It sounds like this is what the previous doctor was doing for you.
The fact that your previous two scans revealed no change in the size of the nodule, is good history. However, in my experience, the annual scan may often continue for a longer period of time.
You may want to discuss this with the new doctor, (in earnest), and make your desires known. If this doctor does not accommodate you, you may want to move on to another, more receptive physician.
