my COPD is making me feel sick and off food

i was diagnosed with COPD in August, i'm finding it difficult to breathe more now, and just walking afew steps makes me severely breathless. i have a really loving, supporting husband, who is also my full time carer, and i have severe health problems, and i know he's really worried about me

  1. Hi . I see you are new here. Welcome to the community! Have you talked with your doctor about the progression in your symptoms? Here is an article with some tips for helping you catch your breath when you run short: https://copd.net/living-with-copd/breathing-strategies. I hope this helps. It can be hard to be a full-time caregiver, but it can be equally stressful to be on the receiving end. It sounds like he knows how much you appreciate him. Does he ever take time to care for himself? Please let him know he is welcome here also, if you don't mind sharing the community with him. We have lots of caretakers and articles geared toward caretakers here as well. Sending lots of gentle hugs your way. - Lori (Team Member)

    1. Hi there! I'm glad that you're here in the community seeking support. Dealing with a new diagnosis of any kind is difficult and you don't have to navigate this alone. While I can't give medical advice for your own safety, I wonder if the current plan of managing your COPD symptoms is working. Sometimes, it can take some trial and error to find the right medications and supports to feel a little better. Have you seen your pulmonologist since your diagnosis six months ago? It may be worth it to reach out and let them know that you are really struggling as they might want you to come in for an appointment. What do you think? Best wishes, Melissa (copd team)
