morphine

i am stage 4 very severe copd. just went in for battery of tests. unable to walk this time. they lowered my morphine to every 6 hrs instead of every 4 hrs. dont know if thats the total reason but i am having much more trouble doing everything. this new doctor thinks i might get addicted. i told her im already addicted to life.

  1. Hi , and thanks for sharing this with the community. Being 'addicted to life', as you've said, is a good thing, from my perspective.
May I ask, what type of diagnostic testing did you have done at this time? Is there anything further you are able to share with the community at this time?

    1. i will share all i know and understand. im 73, 74 in aug. retired army. the first thing during the testing is to have you walk down a hallway and back. i couldnt make 10 steps. completely out of breath and gasping. next few tests they put me in a closed booth and had me inhale hold it and then blow out hard. this went on for about 45 minutes. i have test results but dont understand except it was much worse than the last time. i smoked for several years off and on and quit in1995. three months ago i was able to walk with a walker down the street and basically take care of myself. now i cant walk to the bedroom on 1st floor and undress without gasping. i cant wipe myself without gasping even with my oxygen level at 4. before it has always been set at 2. i no longer can shower and my wife has to help me wash in a tub. i cant dry off without her doing most of it. tonight, i notice my feet are both very swollen. other than all that im in great shape.

      1. You're very much welcome, CopdGIrl. Enjoy the rest of the holiday weekend!

      2. Hi there, I only know what the nurse or Doctor told me, she showed me one line and where it had gone a little worse again like last time, but to be honest, while your in there, all I can see is a lot of metal curved pins going off like the clappers. Scribbling all over the place.X😁

    2. thank you for asking.

      1. hi Leon, I'm on my 3rd pulmonologist in 4 months. they change jobs. only seen this latest one time and she cant write scripts for morphine yet. paperwork? she only told me i had gotten a lot worse. put me on prednisone 10 milligrams with that 4 a day for 3 days then 3 a day etc. I've always been on 20 mg each time in the past. i am on one a day permanently. just finished , not sure it worked much. also out of morphine and cant reach either dr. since last Thursday. as i mentioned my feet look like balloons. have not had this before. oh well, hoping the docs will be back to work after the long weekend. want to thank everyone taking time to talk with me. helps lots.

        1. thank you. will do

        2. That's the spirit, jerry - I will look forward to our next conversation.
