Medicine for insomniaHow

Has anyone found a solution to their problem of insomnia that doesn't interfere with breathing? I'm finding that everything I'm prescribed can possibly interfere with my breathing, so I'm becoming paranoid about it. But I really need to sleep!!

  1. We do many some articles and discussions about insomnia and what other people have done to help combat it. You can begin here: https://copd.net/living/sleeping-tips Hopefully it helps to spark some ideas and discussions with your physician. I have my own chronic illness and I know that when I don't sleep the entire next day or two is shot, and on top of that it is just super uncomfortable and annoying, so you are not alone for sure! 1. Hi . My colleague Daniel provided you with a great resource. I also moderate in our sister community for people with insomnia, so I thought I would chime in with this article about complementary and alternative treatments for insomnia: https://insomnia.sleep-disorders.net/home-remedies. Many people who can't take medications that impact their breathing use melatonin, which is an artifical version of a hormone released by our brains that tells us when to sleep. Is that something you have tried? If not, it might be worthwhile to ask your doctor about it. I often use melatonin when I can't sleep because it doesn't leave me feeling groggy inthe morning. I hope this helps. Wishing you the best. - Lori (Team Member)
