If you have an opportunity, the article is fairly thorough in John's explanation of the lung diffusion capacity of carbon monoxide (DLCO. It even includes some of the symptoms and conditions that may be associated with this diagnostic test. To be certain how your particular level of disease responds to the DLCO evaluation, you may want to take this directly to your doctor. It's important to hear one's doctor's impression of the diagnostic test results.
