Low B12 and COPD

I was recently told I have Anemia due to low vitamin B12 levels. It's being treated. But I'd like to know how COPD is affected by it.

  1. Hi Catherine - nice to see you posting here again - it's been a while and I do hope you are doing okay.
You may be aware we cannot provide medical advice or diagnostics over the internet (for your own safety), but your concern certainly warrants a reply.
There are various types of anemia so I will speak very generally about this.
Generally speaking, some forms of anemia may result in a depletion of the oxygen carrying capacity of the blood. In some types of COPD, oxygenation may be compromised. If both conditions exist simultaneously, it could pose an further oxygenation issue for the patient.
I would suggest you discuss your concerns with the doctor who diagnosed you with anemia. The physician will be able to explain clearly how and if this affects your specific condition.
    What do you think?
    All the best,

    1. That would be best answered by a doctor. Schedule a visit as soon as you can.
