What does "long lungs" mean?

I'm 38 and have had asthma my whole life. I recently found myself at the ER. They did an x-ray on my lungs. When the doctor came back in while looking at the x-rays he asked if I ran out and exercised regularly. I said no and asked why. He said well you have really long lungs. What did he mean by that? I didn't speak to him after that.

  1. Hi - great question! You can head here to read a similar Q&A on the topic and get some answers: https://copd.net/q-and-a/what-does-long-lungs-mean/ In addition, I do encourage you to follow up with that doctor and have a conversation about what comes next with your treatment plan. I hope this helps! -Alesandra (COPD.net Team)
