in and out of hospice

Things have been very rough this year. I dropped to 74 lbs in Feb and they put me into a in home hospice program.

The hospice nurse tripled my morphine dosage and added Ativan 4x/day.

This helped, after 3 months I was 83 lbs, they said I was no longer declining and kicked me off hospice.

Fortunately I had kept my Palliative care doctor as my Primary Care Physician, so they were able to maintain the morphine and Ativan that hospice had me on.

In the 6 months since being off Hospice my weight has barely increased, I am 85 lbs now. Things are still pretty rough

  1. I hear how difficult things have been lately and I'm glad to hear you are still able to get your palliative care. Gaining weight with COPD can be hard and, if you haven't already, I would definitely talk with your care team to see if they have any ideas of this, in the meantime, here are a few articles you might find helpful: https://copd.net/spotlight/weight-gain, https://copd.net/living/gaining-weight. All the best, Sam S. (COPD.net, team member).

    1. Hello .
I’m just checking in to see how you are doing. Know that I’m thinking about you.
