hypercalcemia Diagnosis

I am a Káiser Permanente member since 1984. I also have stage 3 COPD. I was recently looking through a list of “Health Conditions “, that is on the Kaiser website of mine, and was surprised to find that I had hypercalcemia! It was diagnosed December 2022. It was never mentioned to me. I know nothing at all about it. I also have chronic kidney disease, osteoporosis and congestive heart failure. Should I be worried?

  1. HI ! I personally feel any "new" diagnose deserves some concern, just for the fact it's something
I need to know for any future medical care, especially if I am seeing a new doctor or say out of town and
need to be seen. I was not sure what Hypercalcemia was so for the fun of new information I did a search.
Found this and thought it might be helpful to you, maybe even think back to see if you can remember the
doctor switching some of your meds around a little at the time or added something new. Hope this is helpful
    to you! .

    1. Thank you so very much, for taking the time to look up and post those links for me. That was very thoughtful of you! 💕 I read the information on those links, and can now honestly say, that I now understand hypercalcemia.

    2. Hi connie, and thanks for your posts here. I see my colleague, , and our fellow member, , have already jumped in and provided some very worthwhile information about hypercalcemia and hyperparathyroidism. I would think this is an important condition for you to be aware of since you were diagnosed just recently, in December 2022. It is also important since you shared that you also have chronic kidney disease (CKD), osteoporosis, and congestive heart failure (CHF).
What surprises me is that, although this new diagnosis appeared on your medical record in December 2022, no one has discussed with you how this relates to your overall health!
It's good to hear the information provided by our colleagues was helpful for you. Are you planning on discussing this, more in depth, with the folks at Kaiser Permanente?
If there is anything we can do to assist you, please let me or any other moderator / team member know. You are always welcome here in our online community.
Please do check back here, if you don't mind, and let us know how you're doing.
      Warm regards,
