How are you getting your housekeeping done?

Up until a month ago I was getting housekeeping services through our county’s Commission on Aging. An employee would come once a week to vacuum, sweep, shake out rugs, clean toilet and take out trash…things I have great difficulty doing with severe COPD.

Housekeeping services during COVID-19

With the spread of COVID-19 they discontinued that service. I really need my small cottage vacuumed. Would it be safe to hire someone without symptoms? They would need to leave shoes at door, wash hands immediately and wear a mask.

  1. Hi ! It looks like Leon and Barbara both have provided some answers to you here: https://copd.net/members/kbair55/activity/72786/ Why not check them both out and see what you think? -Alesandra (COPD.net Team)

    1. Hi again, kbair55, and thanks for posting your question in our Q & A forum. I see that my colleague, Alesandra, has provided a link to the answer that was provided on your original post.

For your convenience, I will copy and post my answer here here, in quotation marks:
"Hi kbair55, and thanks for your post. We hear you, too! This is a difficult question to answer – it’s a judgment call for you. I can tell you anecdotally, that I am familiar with people who are doing just what you are considering. There are services being offered here who claim to be taking all the necessary precautions. However, on the other side of the coin, I am aware some folks who are not crossing these lines at all and are adhering to strict distancing guidelines!

We all understand how challenging and difficult it is living during the pandemic, and making these types of decisions for oneself. This would be one of those circumstances you’ll have to use the best judgment for your own health and safety.

      What do you think?
      Leon (site moderator COPD.net)"

I do hope you find it to be helpful.

      Wishing you well,
      Leon (site moderator COPD.net)
