Hi I'm kathy

Probley my story starts with smoking..been about 20 years with copd..getting worse cause I still smoke...it's really sad..I can't put them down..Ugly

  1. Hey, Kathy. Glad to meet you and glad you are here. You're definitely not alone, and I hope you don't beat yourself up for still smoking. So many people picked up the habit many years ago when they didn't know any better. And studies have suggested that nicotine is harder to quit than heroin.

That said, that doesn't mean you're hopeless. Have you tried to quit before? A huge majority of people need to try several times before they can fully quit. It can take a lot of tools (mental and physical) and a lot of support.

I like this article because it shows that needing many attempts to quit is normal.

Look at it this way -- every time you don't smoke, or wait a little longer before you smoke, is helping your body even in little ways. It all matters. Maybe you can think about having one less smoke. That is still great progress to be proud of.

Sending hugs to you! We are always here to support you and we will never judge you or treat you badly for smoking. A lot of people here are in the same shoes.

(One thing I do need to say for your safety -- please, please do everything you can to avoid smoking while using oxygen, as this is very dangerous to you and those nearby.)

Looking forward to getting to know you better. 😀 -Melissa, team member
