I get heavy feeling in my chest often. Feels like someone heavy is sitting on me reducing my air intake. I do pursed lip breathing off and on throughout the day that helps me. 2 yrs ago had PFT ( Pulmonary Function Test) resulted in learning my right lung cannot take oxygen in. Lately I had 7 weeks of a lung infection. Was given Bactrim but it wasn’t effective enough. Finished that dose. Went to ER breathing SOB and chest pain. They took chest X-rays. They gave me Z Pack. Took that. Still coughing, sob, weak, congestion. Went to doctor. She gave me another round of Z-Pack, Levaquil, and 10 day Prednisone. Had to do the same about 2 yrs ago. Just had another PFT to see what stage I am at now, what damage was done from this last Bacterial Infection in my lungs that then turned to Bronchial infection. Slowly recovering. Haven’t got results back yet. Will get them August 22nd when I go back to my doctor. COPD is not fun at all. I have an excellent doctor who does understand how I describe the heaviness in my chest. She always tells me to slow down and rest when the heavy feeling is there. I tend to do too much because I am feeling good at the time. My body yells at me and tells me to not do so much and rest so my lungs can relax.
