Exercise and Normality

Hey Guys, I have two questions for you: 1. Do any of you guys who have had COPD for a while still cut your own grass? 2. Do any of you guys who have had COPD for a while ever experience days where you just feel normal and not overwhelmed? Thanks for your responses

  1. Hi resurrected1, and thanks for your post. You've posed two excellent questions. While I'm hopeful others in the community will chime in and share their own personal experiences (cutting the grass, feelings of normalcy from time to time), I would like to say something.
First, following a simple 'search' here on our community website, I found an article in which one of our community members (), did post a story in which he mentions this activity. Here is a link to that article, for your convenience: https://copd.net/stories/new-world.
However, I also wanted to mention that both here (on COPD.net), as well as on our COPD Facebook platform, I remember reading several comments (over the years), in which community members do discuss these sorts of things.
As you look around the communities more and more, I am sure you will begin to see these sorts of topics being discussed. By asking your questions, the comments may come pouring in.
    Wishing you well,
    Leon (site moderator COPD.net)

    1. It looks like Leon gave you some excellent food for thought. I'll just add my thoughts...
As with any chronic illness, everyone reacts differently. While someone else with COPD may not be able to cut their own grass, you may. Some have weeks and months in which they feel "normal", while others change from day to day.
What's normal for you will not be normal for someone else - so hopefully you'll find some comfort in that. You will learn to know your body and hear what it's telling you.
      Please take care,
      Lyn (COPD.net site moderator)

      1. Leon, I left out that my regular long time Physician retired.

      2. Hi again, resurrected - sounds like you are moving in the right direction. Naturally, if there is anything we can do to assist you, please let me or any other moderator / team member know.
And also, if you don't mind, please do check back and keep us posted as to your progress.
We are always here to assist.
        Warm regards,
        Leon (site moderator COPD.net)

    2. Thank You Leon - This information gave me a great start. Nice to have somewhere to go and not feel so isolated.

      1. It's my pleasure, resurrected - please know you are always welcome here!

    3. Hello - Needed a little advice: Do anyone have problems sleeping through the night and how do you deal? I barely reach 3 to 4 hours per night and don't know what to do both safely and healthy to get the proper sleep. Any Suggestions?

      1. Sleep is so important, and I'm so sorry that you are struggling with it. Have you had a conversation with your doctor? If not, I would definitely suggest doing that. What about a sleep study? April - COPD net Team

      2. I had that problem until I started using oxygen at night. Now I sleep like a rock.
