How can I live with my dog with my diagnosis?

I have a dog how can I live with him with copd?

  1. Rain, thank you for your question! There are pros and cons to living with pets while also living with COPD. This article lays out some of those considerations and may be helpful for you: https://copd.net/living/pets-with-copd/ If the benefit outweighs the challenges, with a little creativity, it is absolutely possible to live with COPD while having a dog. You might consider having someone come in to help walk and feed the dog on particularly rough days. Also, if you type "pets" into the search on the site [upper right under the COPD.net banner at the top of the page], you will find a few other articles and stories of how other members have handled this question! I hope this helps you think through options.

    1. Hi Rain and thanks for posting your concern about COPD and pets. I see that Allyson has provided you with a link to an interesting reference about that very topic:
In addition, I thought you might be interested in looking over this article about how pets can help you stay healthier: https://copd.net/living/pet-help-stay-healthier/.

      1. Pets are nice to have as they can sence things more than humans. I have a dog here where I live, she one day, (during the past holiday season) acted strange she was being more affectionate more than usual. She was even tapping her paw on my chest, (something I never seen before) I went to the hospital the next day feeling worse and was found to have pneumonia. Pets can know lots of about people's health.
