Does anyone have a meal plan for COPD

My 92 year old Mum has COPD and has been losing weight I got her some drinks from GP but she says they make her feel full so won’t drink them. I would like a meal plan for her to follow but can not find one online. So before I ask her COPD nurse I was wondering if anyone had one to share that I could adapt to suit my Mum.
Thankyou 🙂

  1. Hi Jak4Joyce, and thanks for posting your concerns about your mother. In order to determine the best diet/meal plan for your mom, you may want to speak with someone who is completely familiar with all of her medical conditions. You may be aware that COPD affects each person differently. Since that is the case, a meal plan that is suitable for one patient, may not be the same for another patient. It would probably be most prudent to have the COPD nurse advise you accordingly. What do you think?
Your mom is indeed fortunate to have such a compassionate and caring son/daughter, such as you are. (It's difficult to determine your gender from your screen name).
Please do check back and let us know how this all works out for both you and your mom!
    Wishing you both well,

    1. Thankyou Leon. I’m Jackie as in female Joyce being my Mum, that’s good advice and I will check with her Nurse. I just wanted to see if I could get started because I think her nurse will then seek advice from a dietitian before offering a plan which of course would be more beneficial for her personally. This is a brilliant forum and very helpful. 🙂

      1. Hi Jackie (Jak4Joyce), - thank you for the clarification! The nurse may have some more immediate resources to recommend for your mom but, even if she has to reach out to a dietitian, they may have one that is readily available for the consult. In the meantime (if that turns out to be the case), you can always speak with the nurse about what you can do (for mom), while waiting for more information to come back. This may get it all started sooner, which I know is what you'd like.
Glad to hear that we at COPD.net are able to be helpful for you.
Please know you are always welcome here!
        Warmly,
