Daliresp

I just started taking Daliresp 250 next month it jumps to 500 .
Is anyone else taking this , and what are your results ?
The doctor seemed confident that this would help. I have an open mind but I definitely don’t like the side effects . Just wondering if the results are worth the side effects ? Thanks

  1. Hi Onemoreday, and thanks for your post. While I'm hopeful others in the community will see your inquiry and respond by sharing their own personal anecdotal experiences with this medication, I also have something to contribute.
You may be aware, folks do respond differently to medications. What works well for some patients may not work as well for others. There are many medications to choose from until one is found which is effective for any particular patient. Your physician knows this.
Have you found that Daliresp (250) is helping you? Did you have side effects with this dose? Now that the dosage is being increased, what are your concerns?
The same as I am asking you these questions, you may have your own set of questions to ask your prescribing physician.
I also wanted to share with you, the various articles we have published, right here on our COPD.net website, which focus on this medication (Daliresp): https://copd.net/search?s=daliresp. I do hope you find the information is helpful for you in a practical way.
    Wishing you well,

    1. I have just started taking Daliresp: I asked my pulmonologist for a prescription after seeing how well my husband does on it. He's been taking it for at least 3 years with great results. I'm on the starter dose of 250 mcg and will graduate to the full 500 mcg after 30 days. So far, I get a mild daily headache, some diarrhea, slight upset stomach and have lost a few pounds. I certainly don't feel these side effects are enough for me to stop taking it. I've read other Daliresp users say the side effects do go away. The potential of what this medicine can do for me certainly outweighs the slightly annoying side effects I'm experiencing.

      1. Hi Denny, and thanks for joining in the conversation here. I am glad to hear of the success you are having using this medication (Daliresp). If, as you say, your view of the side effects is that they are outweighed by the positive aspects of using the medication, that is a choice and decision that only you can make for yourself. I like your idea of staying on it, while you are continually monitoring the side effects. If they actually do diminish or, if you continue to view them as minimal, then that should work for you. I would suggest that you do keep your prescribing physician apprised of how you're doing - it's always best to work collaboratively with your doctor when using a new medication.
Please do check back and let us know how this all turns out for you as well. We would appreciate that type of feedback.
        All the best,

    2. I have been taking Daliresp for about 9 months after the first month all the side effects were mild after the second month I hardly noticed any at all.
I spent more time crawling on the floor looking for the tiny little pill I dropped .
Today I don’t have and side effects at all , nor have I had any flare ups so either the tiny pill is doing a great job or I am increasingly lucky , before I stated this meditation I was having 4-5 flare ups a year , there is absolutely no side effect that would make me stop this medication. Good luck to you and hang in there because the end result is well worth it.

      1. Hi Onemoreday, and thank you for lending your own support and encouragement here. We also appreciate you sharing your own personal experience managing this disease by using this medication (Daliresp). I am glad to hear it is making such a difference for you - you must be gratified, too!
        Keep up the good work!
        Have a good weekend!
