The first thing you need to do is get an appointment with a pulmonologist. The pulmonologist will most likely schedule a PFT (breathing) test for you. Once the results are in, the doctor will know what stage of COPD you are in and from there, make a treatment plan. About the only thing you can do until you get an appointment, and your breathing test, is read as much as you can about COPD, so you understand the terminology and will know exactly what the doctor will be telling you. It will also enable you to be able to ask specific questions about things you don't quite understand. That is the best advice I can come up with for you until you know more about your own condition.
