What does my prognosis look like with chronic bronchitis?

I have chronic bronchitis. I had breathing problem from last many months. I used to smoke till last year. I thought the break problem is because of the smoking and was hoping that it'll improve since I quit, but the breathlessness kept increasing.

I visited doctor 3 days back, did X-ray of chest and he told I have severe bronchitis. Is there a threat to my life? Will I be fine? Currently I am on 10 days antibiotics (Znoximor 500mg) and inhaler.

  1. Hi again, SUSHIL ELIAS - I see you posted something very similar elsewhere on our COPD.net platform, for which my colleague, Lyn, and I were able to respond. This was about four days ago.

For your convenience, and to make certain you are able to see the replies, here is a link to that conversation of ours: https://copd.net/members/sushil-elias/activity/78802/.

I do hope you have an opportunity to read this information.

If there is anything further we can assist you with, please let me, Lyn, or any other moderator / team member know.

    Warm regards,
    Leon (site moderator COPD.net)

    1. Leon: From my experience consider yourself very lucky that you went to Doctor while the bronchitis had not morphed into COD. Bronchitis treatable but so far medical science says COPD not curable. DON'T EVER SMOKE AGAIN. GTOOD LUCK and HOPE you SEE MANY MORE YEARS IN YOUR JOURNEY.

      1. Hi Leon: Sorry for getting your message mixed up. Glad) not really but yes ) that you hab}ve asthma because it does not morph to COPD. From my viewpoint , compared to my situation, you are one lucky person. just happens that today marks nine years since Pulmonologist stated that I had to use supplemental oxygen 24/7 for rest of my life becausde my SpO2 was 70% or lower. I did not accept that ( for another story ) and have managed without except for occassional one day session. In time I will document because my major message to fellow COPDers is that NEVER ACCEPT MEDICAL SCIENCE OPINION THAT COPD IS NOT CURABLE. Having seen almost 8 decades in my journey I have lots of stories. I have lost friends who had COPD . One of the things we did was pass stories on topics other than directly related to COPD. I would ask you to consider adding to STORIES subsets . Medical possibly or not related to COPD, Non medical both good and bad for membders to see how COPDers handle their situations.
As a sidenote when I develop a sore throat I gargle with 100$ pure Bacanora that wll wishers give me for my condition.

        You have a good one.
Will post a story this week

      2. Hi again, Sleibhin, and thanks for responding, below.

There is no need to apologize - there is so much going on here in the forums - it's not always easy to keep everything and everyone straight.

The community will always welcome that you share you COPD experience here - someone like you with many years of experience can only be helpful when you are able to share what you've been through.

As well, any stories that you have to share in our 'stories' forum, will also be more than welcome.

        Keep up the good work!
        Wishing you well,
        Leon (site moderator COPD.net)
