Changing inhaler brands

Wondering if anyone has experienced the difference between Symbicort and its so-called generic equivalent, Breyna? My insurance company dropped Symbicort and my first time using Breyna was exceptionally disappointing, with two near flare ups occurring within hours of each dose.
Seems like the dosage is less and there certainly is less "pressure" when releasing the inhaler. Can't afford Symbicort without insurance, but may have to reexamine alternatives.
Any response is appreciated.

  1. mlhorvath,
I was on Symbicort for two years. I got it through a Prescription Assistance Program. After two years, AstraZeneca decided to not provide me with Symbicort anymore. My doctor put me on Bevespi. I like Bevespi. It seems to work better for me than Symbicort did. Bevespi does not have a cortico steroid in it. Funny thing is that Bevespi is provided by none other than AstraZeneca. I would contact my doctor and tell him the problems you are having with Breyna and try to get something else. My final statement is, " I hate insurance companies". They are basically a scam to get your money. They couldn't care less about your health. All they care about is padding their own wallets. Please take care and God Bless!

    1. - thanks for replying. Yeah, another money grab. It's everywhere! A real bummer when it involves your very life!
Talked to a Pharmacist, knew nothing and referred me to my doc. Seriously doubt that'll do any good. But I will try, and if it requires trying different meds, I'll do it. In over two years on Symbicort I've not once had this problem. It's actually scary to go to bed each night. $300+ a month for Symbicort? Ludicrous!!
Again, thanks! You've given me some direction!
