Breathing

At the moment I am using Spiolto Respimat inhaler, but it always caused me to have a Headache.

  1. Hi . I wish you could get relief without the side effects. Is there anything else you can try? - Lori (Team Member)

    1. Hi. How are you doing today? John. community moderator.

      1. not to bad John. I have been fine of late, but to day I am having a bit of breathing problems.? Although I have been over doing things . The trouble with me is that I just can't sit around while things need to be done . It I should be alright tomorrow? When I get the Vertigo that's when I have to go lie in a Dark room until it passes. I am still coughing a lott especially in the morning. Just getting rid of the Mucus Phlem. Over hear in the UK there has been a breakthrough in treatment of COPD. Apparently they are developing an injection that is given when in the case of a flarup. It is still in the very first stages of investigation , and are still in the trials but it looks to be a game changer🤔

        1. Glad to hear you are feeling better. Thank you for this update. And I hope you are feeling even better today. And thank you for the info about the new study results from the UK. I Googled it and you are right. From what I have read, the injection is the biologic Fasenra -- which they gave to people experiencing asthma and COPD attacks with good results. If future studies replicate this study, perhaps this will give us another alternative to steroids -- and that would certainly bode well for us. Wishing you all the best. John. community moderator.

      2. Thanks John, I have a problem ?? in that COPD is incurable? so anything that is prescribed is just guess work. I know that some inhalers work for some Folks , but as far as I am concerned they don't work for me.
At the moment I am self medicating by using a nicorette mouth spray and a Nebulizer when needed. Of course I still get Bad days when I have breathing problems and that is combined with Vertigo? But since I have been self medicating I seem to be able to cope. Now that Winter is coming on I do find that the cold air affects me more. Yesterday my Wife and I went to a Restaurant , and I had to ask the Staff to Box mine up as the heat in there was affecting me so much that I had to leave. I presume that was because coming in from cold air into a hotter
Inviorment just made me so uncomfortable.😎

        1. You are welcome. It appears that you are doing a good job managing your COPD. And, despite having occasional symptoms, you are able to cope. And it is not abnormal for people with COPD to have trouble in the winter. Perhaps there is one little tweak your doctor could do to help you make it through the winter months. I know you said inhalers don't work for you. But there are also other treatments, some newer such as biologics -- something I talk about here (https://copd.net/living/talking-biologics) or other treatments. Perhaps this may be a good topic to bring up with your COPD doctor. What do you think? John. community moderator.
