Air Quality

I live in a state that has air pollution ratings of F in five cities. I live in one, and vacation in another. The warnings say it can be dangerous for sensitive populations. This summer the warnings are fairly constant. I also live about eight miles of a coal fired power plant.

My lung doctor told me to move. I didn't know if he was serious or not, but I seem to be really sensitive to the ozone levels.

How do people deal with this? I could hardly walk to the car from a restaurant last night despite using my inhalers, and nebulizer.

  1. Hi twovillages, and thanks for this post. You've brought up an interesting subject! While I am hopeful others in the community will see your inquiry and respond, I did have something to say as well.
We do have a number of articles, published right here on COPD.net, which focuses on this very subject matter. I thought you might find it helpful to look over the information.
First, this article, which focuses on the best places to live in the United States (for folks with COPD): https://copd.net/living/best-places-live.
And next, this article which discusses the quality of the air we breathe: https://copd.net/living/healthy-air.
Perhaps these reviews will provide you with some thing to think about as you plan what to do next.
    What do you think?
