Just Diagnosed

I'm 69, had problems on and off all throughout my life, even when young. They took my tonsils out when I was 18 thinking that would help. I could go years, then would have a bad attack of bronchitis that would last for 6 weeks. I once had something for ten years, from age 24 to 34, was stuffed up with tons of mucus that whole time. No doctor could find anything wrong. One doctor just said, I see no mucus, eat more steak and salad. Huh? At age 69, I fell sick one week after I retired. Very sick with thick mucus and coughing that would go on for hours. My son died one month later which seemed to make me even sicker. WAs sick for a whole year. Went to my doctor at 3 months and she checked my lungs and said it was just a virus. She said and these were her exact words, We all get these things. It will come back. Hmm? At 9 months I went back and she ordered an x-ray and a breathing test which I got months later. He did not tell me what was wrong, was just shocked, kept saying, Good thing you came it and it's not at all what your doctor expected. She thought it was just the beginning of COPD so it must be something way worse. I seem fine now, the sickness left and I am just left with a small spell of coughing up mucus at night, maybe for half an hour whereas before it was 3 hours twice a day. My energy has returned and throughout the whole year I continued to walk my dog for 2 hours with no problem. I have never been out of breath or had chest pains and I have no wheezing. Just coughing, mucus and tiredness. But the tiredness has gone now. So have no idea what is going on and I'm scared. I'm not a smoker, never was. I smoked for years maybe one cigarette a day. Gave it up at age 45 and smoked weed ever since but not heavy. I'm slim, very active and have no other health problems except eczema. The doctor who did the lung test also said it could of been something I was born with and never detected. I find out in 3 weeks after a specialist goes over the results of the test. He said my breathing was very low, then it went up by 90% after I used the inhaler. I have never used an inhaler but I do have one. Tried it a few times and didn't think it helped when I was at my worst. I have a fear of all medication ever since I had a bad experience with steroid creams for eczema. So I never take medication. Will report back in 3 weeks after my diagnosis.
