zephyr valves

Hello, I am a 64 yr. old male in stage 3 COPD. I have been evaluated for zephyr valves but I was told that I do not qualify because I have " lateral Ventilation " which means that my bronchia's leak and zephyr valves would not close off the air to my bad lobes so there is no sense in doing the procedure. I was also told that this lateral ventilation may heal and therefore I may qualify at a later time. My question is if this lateral ventilation can heal how long would this take and also is the statement in fact true.

  1. , everyone is different and unfortunately, we aren't able to offer specific medical advice. Maybe getting a second opinion from another physician will help answer these questions for you. We do have some great information on our site about Zephyr Valves we can share if you are interested. All the best, Sam S. (COPD.net, team member).
