Zephyr Valve Treatment

I'd love to know who has had this treatment and how they have fared afterwards. It is being suggested for me after I did not qualify for a lung reduction or transplant. I am stage 4, still working but with more and more SOB.

  1. Hi again, LROgal - you've brought up an excellent topic. There are several members in our online community who have had this procedure done and shared their experiences here with the group.
Here is a link to many of the articles in which this (endobronchial valve) procedure is mentioned: https://copd.net/search?s=Endobronchial%20valve%20zephyr%20valve.
I'm hopeful this will provide you with the right information for you to determine (with your physician), if this is a suitable procedure for your present medical circumstances.
Please do check back and keep us apprised of your progress as you continue to look into this.
    Good luck!

    1. Hi ! I see has answered you. I just wanted to add that there is a wonderful Facebook group also that has many people that have had this procedure done on it. It is called Lung Valves For Friends since 2019. Best, Jackie (Moderator)

      1. Hi Jackie and thanks for posting this information. I did not know there was a community group available tor this particular procedure, and appreciate that you shared it with us here.
Enjoy the remainder of the weekend!

      2. you too, thank you! 😊

    2. Hi! I had the endobronchial valves installed just over two years ago, and I would highly recommend doing it. It's not surgery, so there is no down-time, no pain, no disability. It is a gradual process, over probably a month or so before you can really be sure you're feeling improvement, and not just wishes. I am a 73-year-old woman, and I went from using supplemental 02 24/7, to only sleeping with it, and using it to vacuum, or other heavier work. The improvement increases for several months, then levels off. I would encourage you to do it, if your doctor has cleared you and you meet the criteria.
