Years after lobectomy

Does anyone feel like your rib cage shifts and debilitating pain for seconds afterwards?

  1. Hi Jenny, and thanks for your post. I am hopeful others in the community will see your question and respond by sharing their own personal experiences with COPD, rib cramping/pain, and following lung surgery.
I also wanted to mention we have a number of article published, right here on COPD.net, which focuses on COPD and rib pain/cramping. For your convenience, here is a link to several of those articles: https://copd.net/search?s=rib%20pain%20cramps.
I do hope you find the information is helpful to you in a practical way.
    Wishing you well,
    Leon (site moderator COPD.net)

    1. - I’ve had bullectomies on both sides and yes, I’d agree. I also have a challenge with flaring of my left rib cage which seems to happen as I tire during / after exercise

My physio has put it down to the consequential damage done to intercostal muscles and the top of the diaphragm during surgery. With his guidance I’ve been working on building my oblique muscles, my diaphragm and my core overall. That and getting massage on those scarred intercostals. It’s working, but is a slow process

      1. Yes, I've been working to ease the pain but it is still there.
