Hi margureticatz - WELCOME! You have certainly come to the right place, Here at COPD.net, we are all about all things COPD and COPD-related.
With a new diagnosis of COPD, you will want to look around here - there is a wealth of information which focuses on every aspect of this disease.
As for your question - it's a good one! An exacerbation of COPD is a sudden worsening of symptoms for the person with a COPD diagnosis. This can certainly vary from patient to patient in terms of acuity, symptoms and required intervention.
I thought you might gain some additional insight from this article on that very topic (exacerbations): https://copd.net/living/first-exacerbation.
I do hope you find the information is helpful in a practical way.
Should you have any questions, please let me or any other moderator / team member know.
