valve placement recovery

Hopefully I'm in the final stages of valve placement approval. What is the recovery like? I live alone with no family in the area; is there anything I can/need to do extra because of that? About the only thing I know is I'll be getting two meals delivered/per day for 10 days after hospital release. What might the driving restrictions be like?

Thanks!

  1. Rob, I too am in the process of seeing if I will qualify for the valves. I found a private Facebook group that is strictly for folks that are considering, in the process of qualifying and have had valve placement. You should be able to find a wealth of information about the experiences that folks there are having. If you are on Facebook you should be able to join. It’s called Lung Valves for Friends Since 2019. I’ve really liked reading about what others are experiencing and have certainly learned a lot about the process.
I have had some preliminary tests, and am waiting for another CT scan to see if some lung nodules are resolving. I also am in pulmonary rehab as it a requirement that I complete that. Good luck!

    1. Cindy Ann, thanks for the FB idea. I'm on there (FB) quite a bit so at least I'm somewhat familiar with the format; now it's waiting for approval for that group too, LOL. Yesterday I had my second CT scan within three weeks. For some reason the doc wanted yesterday's CT done at the hospital (compared to Imaging offices at another location). The only difference I noticed is I also got a set of scans while laying on my stomach?

Other than Friday's scans, I think I'm only waiting on Medicare approval. While the docs want it, I can't afford the rehab. But signs of potential cancers are minimal and I quit smoking about 2 1/2 years ago. The scary part is going thru this b.s. by myself. Hope all goes well for you too!
