Vaccine and oxygen

I take prednisone and azithromycin daily, stage 4 copd. After my second vaccine, I had to increase to 4 lpm from just 2 lpm. My doctor thinks it’s from pollen but I’m not so sure. Anyone else have problems similar?

  1. Hi again, , and thanks for your post. While I am hopeful others will read your comment and respond with their own personal experiences, I did want to share a thought as well.
As you are aware, COPD affects all patients differently. Symptoms, although there are many that are associated with COPD, also don't affect all patients. Some patients exhibit certain symptoms while still others will have other symptoms. No two patients are exactly the same.
Having said that, my experience has seen the COVID-19 vaccinations also affect patients differently. This will also apply to patients with COPD. In your case, are you usually affected by pollen? If so, your doctor may have a point. If not, then perhaps you are correct that it was a reaction to the vaccination.
Are you still using the increased oxygen flow rate (4 lpm), that you mentioned above?
How are you feeling now? How long ago were you vaccinated?
We appreciate both your input and your feedback.
    Wishing you well,

    1. Hi Leon....I do not have allergies but the high pollen count does have an effect on everyone it seems. I am still using between 3-4 lpm but feeling better. I had my second vaccination on April 23 so it has been 5 weeks now. I realize the day to day ups and downs of emphysema can be challenging but I just take one day at a time. Thanks for your response and wishing you well☀️

      1. Hi again luckyl13 - thanks for your response and further explanation - I appreciate it you sharing this here. You make a good point - if the second vaccination was already 5 weeks ago, the way you feel currently may not be a reaction to the immunization. I know here, when the pollen is way up, everyone does seem to be affected by it as you said.
Your approach of taking 'one day at a time' is a good one and, particularly well suited to this condition. Keep up the good work!
