Trelegy

I am now 65. Have been taking Trelegy for about 2 years. Now that I am now on Medicare I will be in the dreaded Donut Hole in a few months. The cost is completely out of control. Anyone else in the same situation???

  1. Hi jwillie, and thanks for your post. I am hopeful that others in the community will see your inquiry and respond by sharing their own anecdotal experiences dealing with the aspect of Medicare (the donut hole).
In the meantime, I thought you might gain some additional insight from any of these article which focus on this very aspect of Medicare coverage: https://copd.net/search?s=donut%20hole.
I do hope you find this information is helpful for you, in a practical way.
    Wishing you well,

      2. Hi again, jimmy - I see you posted something similar elsewhere on our community platform, for which I was able to provide a reply. For your convenience, here is a link to that conversation: https://copd.net/forums/trelegy-cost-on-medicare. I do hope you have an opportunity to look it over.
        Wishing you well,

    2. I don't care what anyone tells you, there are other medications out there that cost far less, and some even nothing as Medicare pays 100% on them) which my work. Simply require that your doctor find one of them. It is their job, make them do it. I've done it a couple of times. I did it with Breo, and I may now have to do it with Symbicort, too. Between Big Pharma, the pharmacies, and the doctors, it's been an ongoing racket for many years. You do not have to tolerate it. Make the doctor find a cheaper or free med or fire him and get a new one. This may not work in absolutely every case, but it will in most. Your doctor should understand the issue and be quite willing to assist in finding a solution for you.

      1. & I learned I could replace my Symbicort with Budesonide ampules (it's the same ingredient) for my nebulizer and get them free, covered under Part A (under oxygen supplies), from my Oxygen supplier. Problem solved. It has saved me a ton over the last year or so. My doctor hooked my up on that deal.

      2. thanks for sharing what you have found as an alternative! This is a great thing for others to discuss with their doctors to see if it is also an option for them. All the best, Sam S. (COPD Team).

    3. Hi ! Unfortunately, you are not alone in this. I see that others have suggested the same that I am, to ask your doctor for a cheaper prescription. Some drug companies have assistance programs to help out. Check out information on the drug company website. Keep us updated! Best, Jackie (Moderator)
