I use 4.5 liters while exercising and I just realized that my machine tops out at 5 liters. What does this mean? Are there concentrators that go higher (so I should order one?) or is that the limit as far as how much oxygen can flow into your lungs?

Hi GeckoGal and thanks for your question. Yes, concentrators do have some limitations when compared to medical gas cylinders (stationary and portable). Most commonly the restrictions are focused on liter flow (usually from about 1-6 liters per minute), and if they are household concentrators, they generally need an electric source. I hope this brief answer provides you what you need. If you need more information, please just let us know. All the best, Leon (site moderator)

Hi again, GeckoGal - I see I missed part of your question. The limit of 5 liters per minute (of your machine) is just that - the limit of your machine. There are concentrators that have a slightly higher range. It is NOT the limit of what you're able to breathe. If your physician wants you to have a higher flow rate, you should discuss that with him and decide which equipment and oxygen device is best for you. Warm regards, Leon (site moderator)
