oximizer pendant Cannula

Is anyone in the community using an oximizer pendant cannula? My Pulmonary doctor recommended this for me to use during the day other then the regular cannulas. I found the oximizer to be a very hard plastic and very heavy, also makes my nostrils very sore. The tubing is twice as large as the regular cannulas I have been using . Its hard to keep up my nose and around my ears due to its thickness, weight, and being so uncomfortable. I ware it so that the pendant is in the back of my head which makes it a little comfortable. Have any of you had this problem with the stiffness of this cannula and if so how did you soften it? I would like to continue its use but find it very irritating heavy and uncomfortable.

  1. Hi , and thanks for your post and sharing your concerns when using this device with the community. Your discomfort is not uncommon with this type of equipment. A well trained, experienced therapist should be able to assist you when modifications to this type of device become necessary. I would hope the equipment company which supplies you with this pendant retains a professional therapist on staff for just these types of situations.
In the meanwhile, I thought you might find it helpful to look over this conversation, in which your very concerns are discussed: https://www.inspire.com/groups/living-with-pulmonary-fibrosis/discussion/oxymizer-discomfort/. I think you will find some solutions as expressed by folks who are using the device. The range of dates for the responses are from 2015 all the way through 2023. I hope this helps you with some practical applications that may work for you.
