New treatments for COPD

Has anyone tried Dupixint for copd ? FDA is expected to approve it Sept. 27th and I am excited about it hoping for good results.

  1. Hi . I think a lot of people are excited for this drug to be approved. I hope you are able to get a prescription when it is released and that it is effective for you. While you are waiting for responses from others in the community, I thought I would share with you this article about biologics: https://copd.net/living/talking-biologics. Wishing you the best. - Lori (Team Member)

  2. Hi ,i have severe copd and was started on Dupixent at the end of April this year and the difference is like night and day, and luckily no side effects .I am new to this community and hope that this helps .Ged1

    1. After my dupixent shot yesterday i am happy to say that there was no repeat of my cough or wheezing .So i will maybe start my nebulizer albuterol hit every evening as before as it is now obvious that it lasts for12-14 days. This is just in my case only as we are all different .Again right now i feel that for a good week and a half i will be able to get things done and put the COPD near the bottom of the to do list. I Really cannot stress enough the difference that this makes. For sure when the FDA approves it that so many suffering with COPD will get a big increase in the quality of life that we all deserve.

  3. How did you get dupixent for copd ? I can’t get it until fda approves it for copd. Anyway I am happy to hear that it is working. I’m sure looking forward to it.

    1. I guess my lung guy must have combined Asthma with the conditions so that was what enabled me to be put on the Dupixent as i was certain that it was approved back then. However i am so very grateful that i was approved and hope many others will be too.

  4. Stage 3 is also where i am so lucky to be ,i will try to answer your ?s together. Before Dupixent i was on Albuterol and pulmicort nebulizer 4-5 times a day, plus Albuterol and Stiolto- respimat inhalers. Mid March i had very severe bouts of coughing, wheezing and problems breathing,So was put n a large dose of Prednisone and a couple of strong antibiotics. This started to lessen the attacks but was not able to really control it. So my lung guy wanted to try the dupixent, i was refused it twice by my insurance but the 3rd try in a week i got the green light. Had my first doses at the end of April and bang, what a difference ,my wheezing has basically gone, and my whole copd touch wood has improved dramatically. Also cadillack I was told that it was just approved by the FDA early April. I do not have a car only a bicycle and not electric (i wish) as transport and there's a massive difference there too. Plus i rarely take any of my old med as i just do not feel anything from them,i only take my Albuterol inhaler as needed. My doctors know this and say ok but be cautious. I must admit this does scare me a little as it is new territory for me and also the doctors too.Hope i did not ramble too much and really hope it helps u guys and the best of luck to all. Ged1
