Hi pgood, and thanks for your post. I hear you!
Sometimes, folks with a disease and symptoms do inadvertently wait too long to reach out for their doctor - it happens. Sometimes, the thought process can be 'it's not that bad', 'I can get past this myself', 'denial' and a slew of other 'reasons'. As said, 'it can happen!'
Since COPD affects each patient differently, it stands to reason that recovery time can also vary (considerably), from patient to patient. There are times, for some patients, that delaying therapy can also lengthen recovery.
Having said all this, my suggestion to you would be to try to remain patient as your treatment kicks in and takes over to direct your body back towards recovery. It's understandable that you might be frustrated as you progress towards improvement.
Take it easy, give your body time to rest and recover - you will get there!
If it helps you, please check back and keep us posted as to your progress.
Of course, there is a caveat to all this. Should you find that you are not improving, but rather, you find your symptoms persisting or even worsening, that would be a good time to reach out again for your physician. But, barring anything unusual, I'm hopeful the treatment (inclusive of oxygen therapy), will be successful.
What do you think?
