My Copd Journey

I wasn't clear on my first time writing. It's just been a month or so, since I've started having nasal breathing issues.. I do have oxygen concentrator at home. I have a Pulm Dr.. I keep track of my pulse ox.
I also have a bp cuff at home . have high bp, cholesterol, copd, I have very severe stage copd
I really like my primary Dr, plus like my pulm Dr.. I do follow their instructions.. I use to work in the medical field. I may be at a point where I need to Stay on my oxygen all the time. Up to now.. I just use it when I get SOB... I also have Inogen 5 portable to take with me. however, it only gives me puffs of oxygen when I take in breaths thru my nose... getting harder to breathe taking it now.. wish it was a continuous flow of oxygen. thank you to the ones who responded to my first writing. was nice to know people do care.

  1. I'm with you, sir! In the same boat, that is. I am now on 02 24/7, but I am still waiting on my new POC which is on back order due to the Covid. I was born with a deviated septum (and mind!) and have had my nose broken many times over the years, so I also have difficulty breathing through my nose. This also greatly affects my sleep, and I am also in the queue for an NIV home ventilator due to the shortage. I have a call in to my doctor now (again!) to change my inhaler, as they suddenly went up from $35 to $409 on it. I will have to stop the med if she can't find me a substitute, as I cannot afford that, for even one month. I will post any progress.

    1. Hi kloker, good luck with finding an affordable inhaler, most of them cost about the same. I haven't found a replacement for my trelegy. I have sleep apnea. just not enough to suit Medicare to pay for a cpap at nite. good luck. P.S. I am a female.. hahha. Homeyclown was a name of one of my dogs...

      1. Homeyclown and kloker, Inhalers are expensive, when I got my first inhalers I was paying for everything out of pocket and it was getting hard to do that. I started doing some searches for coupons or discounts to help with the cost. I started looking at some of the prescription discount apps. Sometimes they had discounts sometimes they didn't. I found it worth my time to look at them. Hope this helps and good luck.

        1. COPD is a progressive disease ut there is no reason to believe that your COPD has progressed. Have a frank talk with your doctor, keeping a list of symptoms. Give your doctor clues to what is happening and together you will decide why it us happening. I use continual flow 02 24/7. I have not felt this good in a long, long time. Hope this is the answer to your question. Barbara Moore (moderator)

          1. It was my Dr who told me I was having a flare up, even tho my chest xray was good.. just the sounds of my breathing and how I was describing the way it was making me feel.. thanks for the suggestion tho. may look into that

          2. It sounds like you have a good doctor that pays attention. Barbara Moore (author)
