Mask outdoors

COPD has, slowed me down (so has age), but it is,NOT going to stop me from doing what I love like garden and yard projects. Well, last week I took my little shower chair that I converted to a garden chair, little oxygen cylinder on a cart, hand saw and clippers, big paper leaf bags, and spent 4 days trimming a way overgrown forsythia line. I didn't wear my mask!! Dumb. Ended up in upper respiratory distress for 4 days. Will not forget the mask again. Does anyone else work in the gardens and yard wearing a mask? Any additional suggestions? I am 74 and really enjoy outdoor work and feeding my collection of outdoor critters.

  1. , I appreciate your attitude of not letting your COPD stop you from doing what you enjoy! While I am sorry that it led to a little setback, now for next time you know what you have to do to avoid it. I'm sure some of our other community members will share some of their tips, but in the meantime here is an article about one of our advocate's experience with gardening that you may find interesting: https://copd.net/living/gardening-life. All the best, Sam S. (COPD.Net, Team Member).
