Lung pain

Has anyone experienced severe pain in their lungs?

  1. Not sure what lung pain is, but rib cramps and some sort of pain that seems to be a little deeper than bone does hit from time to time, causes me to cough hard. VERY hard and it jacks the pain up. Similar or not?

    1. As much as I hate to say it, it seems like pain, and especially chest and lung area pain are not uncommon in those who live with COPD. https://copd.net/living/8-things-to-know-pain So much of this illness consists of symptoms that don't seem typical to an illness that most people think is just difficulty breathing and a little congestion. Only those of us who are close to it or actually have it can truly understand what it's like to live with. Just know you are not alone, though, and that sometimes helps a small amount. Let us know if there's anything we can do to help. Keep on keepin' on, DPM

      1. HI. It is normal foir people with COPD to feel some chest tightness and pain, especially when you are feeling short of breath or are working hard to breathe. This can be because the muscles used to inhaler are overworked, and this can cause some soreness. Severe chest pain with COPD is not necessarily normal and may be a good reason to seek medical consultation. Is severe pain in your lungs something that you have experienced? What did you you? 1. I'm actually having severe constant pain in my upper back and ribs. It's worse on the right side and when I lay down it's excruciating when the right side touches the bed.

          1. Hi . Your pain might be from coughing, but given how severe you pain in is, it would be wise to see a doctor as soon as possible. Best to play it safe. Is there an urgent care near you open now? Please let us know what the doctor says. We will all be thinking of you. - Lori (Team Member)
