Is there Hope

Is COPD a death sentence or is there Hope?

  1. Hi 'three' and thanks for your post.
You may be aware that COPD affects all patients differently. Having said that, it stands to reason that, based on all we know, there are treatments for COPD (inclusive of life-style changes), that can actually slow the progression of the disease.
The answer to your question is, COPD is not a death sentence and, there certainly is hope for folks diagnosed with this disease.
I thought you might find it beneficial to look over this material which focuses on COPD and hope: https://copd.net/spotlight/maintaining-hope-awareness.
    What do you think?

    1. Oh thank you so much Leon! I appreciate it very much!

      1. Very helpful! What has helped you?

        1. Definitely not a death sentence. There is ALWAYS HOPE. I refuse to let COPD ruin my life anymore. I am determined to live better & do better. I am 68 with a 27 year old daughter. I have to do better. I have surrounded myself in the past 8 months with my siblings. The ones I know will love & support me. It made a big difference in my life. I thought I liked being alone. I don’t. If possible surround yourself with people who will love & encourage you to do better. Lots of luck to you.

          1. Hi again, Joan, and thanks for lending your own support and encouragement here with the community. We also appreciate you sharing your own personal experience managing this disease. Like you, I also believe in hope - it is always there - one just has to envelop themselves in the emotion!!
            Wishing you well,
