Insurance

Part D coverage what do some of you use I’m with WellCare RX it’s killing me

  1. Hi , I hear how frustrating it is to have insurance that doesn't provide the full support we need. I'm confident other members of our community will chime in with their experiences if they have one to share. Do you know if your current provider has a patient advocate? Many insurance companies do and those advocates can help you navigate your plan and get the most our of your benefits. Also, in the meantime, here is an article you might find helpful: https://copd.net/living/insurance-limitations All the best, Sam S. (COPD team).

    1. I'm on Medicare and have a Humana supplemental policy, and I've found that using the free Good RX coupons is much cheaper for some of my prescriptions. For Flutisacone Salmeterol it's 67% cheaper. Amazing.

      1. I'm on the Humana Advantage plan as is my husband, all of his prescriptions cost us nothing while all of my COPD inhalers, etc. cost plenty although I understand from several groups it is less expensive then some of them. I don't think it's fair that diabetics can get what they need for $35 per month while others pay two to three times that much for their lifesaving medicines. I do not begrudge the diabetics but I think we should get a fair shake as well.

        1. Hi . More changes are coming in the next few years now that the federal government is able to negotiate with drug companies, so I hope some of those costs will come down. It is a shame that in a country as developed as ours that anyone should ever have to go without medications because they can't afford them. Have you ever worked with a Medicare specialist to see whether there is a supplemental policy that might give you better COPD coverage? Wishing you the best. - Lori (Team Member)
