How I deal with my COPD and other conditions

I have COPD, PTSD, anxiety, and neuropathy in my left leg the neuropathy and COPD don't let me do much exercises. And my PTSD and anxiety sometimes makes it harder to breathe. I've learned different breathing exercises that have helped me and I do alot of counting and do things that distract me from my conditions. I read, color collect things coins paper money some cards and I pray 🙏. I try not to overwhelm myself with things but sometimes it happens and I just need to slow down and do one thing at a time. I do research on my conditions and medications that I take. But that's about it I try to have a positive attitude and give God the glory in every situation.

  1. Hi again, , and thanks for sharing this update here. I saw your previous post (about COPD and comorbidities), and was able to provide a response there. For ease of reference, here is a link to that conversation: https://copd.net/living/comorbid-conditions#comment-507710.
Actually, in this current comment of yours (above), I see you answered my concern in the previous post. The way you manage these several diseases/conditions, is admirable. It would seem you have a good understanding of everything and are able to live in such a way that you can control it all the best you can. For many folks, using distractions can help to deal with all this more successfully.
As you said, a positive attitude can actually go a long way towards managing all this. Strong faith can be of great benefit as well.
    Keep up the good work!

    1. wow sounds like you have some good things going for you with all that you learned and the collecting, how cool. What type of money (coins and paper) and cards do you collect? I to suffer with a few things and it gets crazy at times, the worse is the panick/anxiety attacks then the breathing goes south on me even more. I have figured out some of my "triggers" and now avoid them of course. Example of my triggers is News yes TV News reports, I now only watch for the weather and human interest, the rest I mute and do something else through. Certain type of movies and tv shows, man I watched everything and now, well everything is simple, funny and happy type things, no wars, disasters etc.. nothing to provoke negative emotions at all. I had to cut back on a few of my hobbies for they would make the 3 different arthritis conditions act up, replaced that time with Genealogy (Family History Research) keep on finding new information for many generations in time, try to stick only to the "free for information sites" to help me locate those from the past and even some from the current. I then share with others in the family that are interested by stories or just chatting with them over the phone for they are all a distance away from me. Listen to music or white noise at times to try to relax, a little exercising when I can through "chair exercises" that are easier on these old bones I have. Well I best quite writing this book and get off to bed before the sun comes up. If you feel like sharing more, please do! Best to you and easier breathing.
