It is safe for me to visit my mother in the hospital during the pandemic with COPD?

My Mom was transferred to Hospice yesterday, which is in the Hospital. They are allowing visits for my sisters and me. I told my sisters that I am afraid to go in to see her because of my COPD and my Organizing Pneumonia that I am still being treated for with Prednisone. I am able to talk with her on the Phone. Both of my sisters have been in to see her and I know they are not judging me but I feel guilty never the less.

I am so worried I will catch the COVID. Any insight would be appreciated Thank You

  1. Hi again, PK2018, and thanks for expressing your concern and asking this question.

You may be aware we cannot provide medical advice over the internet (for your own safety), but I would like to suggest you ask your own physician this very important question.

Your doctor will be able to advise as to what is the safest way for you to approach this. It's important that safety be considered to protect both your mother and you.

    What do you think?

Please do check back and let us know how this all turns out for you.

    Wishing you well,
