haveing surgery with COPD

Hi I am new to the group and I have genetic copd, I am scheduled for cataract surgery and am terrified i wont be able to breathe or my breathing will be compromisedm thank you

  1. I have had cataracts done, it had no effect on my breathing at all. My face was partially covered in a large tent arrangement and a gentle fan blew through which was cooling and helped with normal breathing. I hope it goes well for you, it's amazing the change in eyesight!

    1. What a lovely name! My Mom had Cataract surgery- two times- did each eye within 3 months. The Eye Surgeon really put my mom at ease and allowed my mom to cough if she needed to, and was prepared for her anxiety about the procedure. My Mom scheduled and cancelled her surgery 6 times- before finally goin thru with it. The Dr. also assisted my mom with medications to keep her relaxed and after the procedure and got some meds on board to minimize coughing.. The main focus should be that you feel your concerns are being addressed- Before you get to the day of the procedure.
I cant wait to hear about the success of the Cataract surgery!! You Got this !! Keep us posted!
